Grundfos BioBooster is to supply a membrane filtration unit to Danish KMC Derivat, a manufacturer of modified potato starch for the food industry. KMC Derivat located in Brande, Denmark is part of the KMC cooperative, which has a strong international presence.
Due to a significant increase in production capacity, KMC Derivat is facing major challenges to encompass the anticipated increase in wastewater volume discharged to their on-site treatment plant. Known for their preference to establish close ties with suppliers, KMC Derivat stays close to the roots with a local solution from Grundfos BioBooster.
The Grundfos BioBooster solution incorporates a membrane filtration unit uniquely designed to increase the filtration treatment capacity of the existing wastewater treatment plant at the production site. Furthermore, the scalable unit is future proof, ensuring KMC Derivat a convenient method for further expansion. This can be done simply by adding more reactors, as the entire filtration process takes place in the enclosed reactors. The Grundfos BioBooster solution is scheduled to be commissioned during the course of 2009.
“So far, Grundfos BioBooster has focused on turnkey projects. The partnership with KMC Derivat marks the expansion of our portfolio and includes retrofitting membrane filtration units to existing biological process tanks to improve treatment capacity”, says Jakob Søholm, Product Manager at Grundfos BioBooster”.
