Cleantech manufacturers are very influential in bringing about change not only among end-users or within their immediate environments but also in a broader manner. One of the available platforms for doing so at a European level is ETAP.
Pan-European forum for promotion of eco-innovation
ETAP (Environmental Technologies Action Plan) is a solution-oriented pan-European forum with focus on raising attention to climate change by promotion of eco-innovation. ETAP is influential in laying the foundation for new roadmaps by appealing for new frameworks that will be adapted amongst all EU member states. Set up in 2004 to promote the development of environmentally friendly technologies, ETAP is an entity under the European Commission – The Directorate General for the Environment. Three stages have been identified by ETAP to realise its targets:
Getting from research to markets, improving market conditions, and acting globally.
Grundfos emerging eco-technologies at ETAP Forum
The 7th ETAP forum took place in Copenhagen this November. Grundfos was among the contributors with several leading emerging eco-technologies – among them Grundfos BioBooster. Grundfos BioBooster was brought forward in a case study as part of project SAFIR concerning decentralised water reuse solutions for irrigation. Apart from Grundfos BioBooster, the SAFIR consortium includes Aarhus University, Denmark and Consorzio Bonifica CER, which is a member of the largest research institute on irrigation and fertigation in Italy.
The next ETAP forum on eco-innovation will take place in Bilbao, Spain from 20-21 April 2010. The main goal of the next forum is to make eco-innovation happen in small and medium-sized enterprises.
